Consistent Ride And Quality Components With Ample Rack Mounts

Jamis calls this bike the "last of the true loaded touring bikes". It comes with a Reynolds chromoly steel frameset and has touring geometry and low-rider braze-ons and dropout eyelets on the fork, and lost wax dropouts with double eyelets in the rear.
Their SST (size-specific tubing) engineering protocol employs smaller-diameter frame sections for smaller frames and larger ones for bigger frames, for more consistent ride quality across all frame sizes. Conceptually, this makes sense as flex differs over longer sections in larger frames.
The Aurora Elite is Jamis' upgraded version of their base Aurora and its key differences are a lighter, stronger Reynolds 631 frame, Shimano Ultegra/105 30-speed drivetrain, an FSA Gossamer triple crankset with Mega-Exo external beraring bottom bracket, an SRAM 10-speed chain with Powerlook, Mavic CXP-22 rims, and new Avid Shorty cantilever brakes.
Depending on where you ride, you might consider switching out the wider stock tires — good for both off-road as well as on-road — for narrower, faster tires. If you plan to do a lot of long hill climbing, also consider switching the small front crankset chainring to a 26, or even a 24.
